Holiday in Uludag

A holiday in Uludağ is a great opportunity for ski enthusiasts to enjoy an unforgettable winter getaway. Tours to Uludağ typically include a flight to Istanbul followed by a transfer to the resort by bus or car (approximately 150 km).

Almost every hotel has its own ski lifts, and their use is usually included in the accommodation price. In addition, visitors can purchase a ski pass for lifts belonging to other hotels at the lower stations, with reasonably affordable prices. You can choose a multi-day package or passes for a limited number of rides.

The layout of the slopes is especially suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers. It is easy to hire an instructor, and there are on-site ski schools available. As many visitors note, this makes the resort convenient for families with children. However, there are relatively few challenging, professional-level slopes with steep descents.

In total, the resort area has 14 lifts, including 5 drag lifts, and around 25 ski runs.

Uludağ attracts both winter sports enthusiasts and those looking for a more budget-friendly option, as prices for accommodation and skiing are generally lower than in Schengen-area resorts.

Weather and Seasons

The region has a mountainous climate, and the ski season lasts about four months. The best conditions are typically from mid-December to the end of March, making this the ideal time to visit.

During the season, snow depth ranges from 1.5 to 3 meters, and the average daytime temperature is around +5°C. Snow can still be present in April, but it tends to be wetter, so skiing conditions are less favorable.

Attractions

A trip to Uludağ also offers the chance to visit several interesting places:

  • National Park — located about 12 km from the resort area, known for its rich flora and fauna, including rare birds such as falcons, hawks, and eagles.
  • Bursa — a historic city accessible by cable car (about 30 minutes away), famous for its landmarks and its past as the capital of the Ottoman Empire.
  • Turkish baths (hammams) with massage services.
  • Yalova thermal springs — located about 80 km from Bursa.

When planning your trip to Uludağ, it’s also worth considering a short stop in Istanbul — spending a couple of days in Turkey’s main city will add even more variety to your journey.
