Holiday on the island of Kos

A holiday on the island of Kos allows you to experience the unique atmosphere of Greek culture.

This island has a rich history, evidenced by numerous ancient and medieval monuments. According to legend, the famous physician Hippocrates once lived on Kos. The island is home to the Hippocrates Museum and an ancient plane tree, under which, according to tradition, he gave lectures to his students. There are also temples dedicated to the patrons of medicine—Isis and Serapis.

Thanks to its unique ecology and pleasant climate, Kos is considered an elite tourist destination. It is almost always sunny here, with beautiful sandy and pebble beaches, clear sea water, a variety of restaurants, and traditional Greek tavernas where you can taste fresh seafood. At the same time, prices are quite affordable.

The central part of Kos is entirely a tourist zone and is especially impressive in the evening and at night. Among water sports, windsurfing is the most developed.

Kos is also an excellent choice for a family vacation—there are many entertainment activities available for children.

We recommend visiting the Archaeological Museum, where you can learn about the island’s history and see a rich collection of ancient art and artifacts. Near the town of Kos is the Asclepeion, a famous archaeological complex. Close to the port is the Castle of the Knights of the Order of Saint John. Near the port, you can rent a boat, motorboat, or small yacht. About 4 km from the island is the popular Turkish resort of Bodrum, where you can also arrange an excursion.

The island’s population is mainly engaged in agriculture. Around the villages there are orchards and wheat fields, as well as plantations of olives, grapes, corn, almonds, and dates. In summer, it is possible to see Caretta-caretta sea turtles, and in winter—pink flamingos.

In July, a festival dedicated to Hippocrates is held, and in August—days of honey, fish, and wine.
